What is an Exchange Server?

by Networking Guy

As the name probably suggests, the exchange server is a kind of software that makes sharing your email inbox and managing it much easier and faster. It is a product developed by Microsoft and this means that it will work great with Microsoft Office and everything that it contains. (Typical microsoft stand or what they call the windows advantage!!!)

Exchange server can be used with POP, IMAP and most web e-mail clients. This allows you to choose what kind of client you want to use and does not limit the choices to Microsoft Outlook, like you were probably expecting.

The best aspect about the exchange server is that it can be used by a large company with several departments easily in order to better coordinate their actions and reach new levels of productivity. It even supports RSS feeds, which are now the primary source of information for a lot of people and in a company that requires to be always up to date, this is even more important.

The exchange server also includes a lot of other features that allow you to filter your messages, easily preview them and edit the ones that you have written but have not sent yet within a click of a button. You can also use keywords to find an e-mail that is important right now but you can’t seem to find it manually
